Bharathi Sagar


BHARATI SAGAR- (b.1949)

 Born in 1949 in Delhi .At the tender age of 13 she studied Commercial Arts by correspondence from The British Institute Mumbai.

Bharati Sagar Studied Fine Arts at The Jawharlal Institute of Fine Arts and Architecture College Hydrabad . Later she studied Ceramics from Lalitkala Parishad Kolkata in 1999.

She travelled extensively during her school life being an armed forces daughter she observed and absorbed different cultures from different parts of the country

 Bharati has been consistently working and regularly exhibiting for more than four dacades in India (Kolkata,Mumbai Delhi and Goa) and abroad,( Gallery Agora NewYork, Neleh’s ART gallery Chicago, Vinyasa Art Gallery Muscat,Squardi Di Donne-Italy and Gallery See/me Miami) to name a few.

She is recipient of several awards namely, State Award Lalit Kala Academy, Andhra Pradesh for On the Spot Sea Scape Painting 1987 and The Lalitkala Parishad State Award 1988 Andhra Pradesh. In 1989 she won the Chitrakala Parishad Award AP.

She has participated in workshops and camps all over India conducted by Indian as well as British and German artists.Namely Amal Ghosh Professor from London, for Vitrium Tiles, Patricks Reynatiens from British Council London, for Stained Glass,IvanKoshmider from Germany for Collage works after which she exhibited with the artist at Birla Academy Kolkotta

She did a Residency at Lalitkala Academy Delhi ,Garhi Studios, (on the invitation of the then Chairman Mr. RB Bhaskaran)

She has now ventured into abstract art with a vengeance. For this she has experimented with purely organic material such as metal dust and citric acid on acid paper and later on canvas too.

Bharati Sagar lives and works in Bangalore.
